Welcome

Ashraf Saad

Dear Prospective Computer Science Student,

On behalf of all my faculty colleagues in the Computer Science Program at Armstrong Atlantic State University, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. I am sincerely glad to learn via the Office of Student Admissions that you are interested in pursuing your undergraduate studies at our institution and specifically in our department. With computers now permeating all aspects of our society, these are exciting times for graduates of our computer science programs whose skills and talents are forecasted by the US Department of Labor1 to remain in high demand for some time to come. You will join a dedicated and world-renowned team of faculty as well as an accomplished cohort of students. Many students are involved in undergraduate research projects dealing with cutting edge topics such as robotics, haptics, and the NSF-funded Ossabest project. Students can also prepare during a programming seminar to compete in the annual ACM Inter Collegiate Programming Competition2. Scholarships are also available for qualified students via the NSF funded S-STEM funds – further information is available at: http://cst.armstrong.edu/nsf/.

I also would like to extend an invitation for you to visit our campus during one of the Navigate Armstrong days that will be held this summer for incoming student orientation, detailed information posted at: http://sa.armstrong.edu/Orientations/index.html.

Welcome on board! We look forward to meeting you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any additional information or if you would like to get in touch with your future faculty advisor.
