Atlanta-based Internet services firm is expanding its operations and seeks experienced Unix System Administrator to manage its commercial web hosting services. This position requires hands-on Unix (FreeBSD) administration experience and offers the opportunity for growth and advancement.

The ideal candidate will have a MINIMUM of two years experience working with a commercial web hosting company and will be comfortable with all aspects of deploying and managing both shared and dedicated Unix web hosting servers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

:: Installation, configuration & administration of FreeBSD based servers in a large multi-domain based commercial web hosting environment
:: Perform scheduled server maintenance, upgrades and patches
:: Monitor system performance, analyze and resolve performance issues
:: Perform migrations of customer data as needed to maintain balanced loads on systems
:: Perform system restores and backups as necessary
:: Manage server security
:: Perform on-call duties as required
:: Assist in policing usage policies (spam, porn, warez, eggdrop bots, etc.) and work with customers to resolve issues
:: Assist in resolving technical support related issues

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

:: Professional demeanor
:: Minimum 4 years of proven, Unix systems administration experience in a commercial web hosting environment
:: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
:: Excellent time management and organizational skills
:: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
:: Solid understanding of Intel-based server hardware, including RAID configuration
:: Fundamental understanding of a UNIX-based operating system
:: Experienced with RAID technologies
:: Ability to write scripts (Tk, Perl, a shell, vbscript, etc.).
:: Experience with Linux, Unix, FreedBSD, BSDi, Perl, Apache, sendmail, Qmail, CGI, DNS, TCP/IP, SQL, and Red Hat experience is a must
:: Must reside within 20 mile radius of Atlanta

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

:: Web application development & database administration experience (PHP, Perl, Java, MySQL, Postgres)
:: Experience with Cisco & Extreme Networks switches
:: Experience in deploying and managing firewalls
:: Hands-on experience with IIS, Windows 2000, MS SQL Server, SQL Clustering, Windows Clustering
