Java Developer/Architect position for Evoca.com

Our startup web 2.0 team is looking for a Java Architect/Developer who can join us to help improve and develop new applications for our high-traffic web application. The candidate should be able to easily comprehend and existing web application and solve known bugs and generate new developments based on project scopes. This position is available for telecommuting, but requires full-time attention to the project.

We are looking for developer with 5+ years experience with high-traffic web environments and a solid background in:

Java/MySQL/Tomcat/JSP/Windows 2003 and Linux

The candidate must:

Have extensive experience developing web applications for large-scale, multi-user, public B2C and B2B websites
Have proven experience in optimizing and improving the performance of a Java-based web application through object-oriented design.
Write and comment code to standards, implementing best practices, and ensure others adhere to these standards
Develop design documents based on business requirements
Work well with virtual teams
Have expert cross-browser knowledge of XML, Web Services, JavaScript, CSS, SSL and DHTML, Java 1.5/ JSP 2.0/ JSTL, Prototype.js, MySQL 5 / Tomcat 5.5, Maven 2 and Continuum, Eclipse 3.1, Object Oriented Programming, Understanding of Audio (bitrates, frequency, conversions), XML
Experience working with MySQL and Oracle databases
Have strong knowledge of relational databases, schema design
Know how to write object-oriented secure, reliable, efficient, robust, flexible, scalable, extendable, maintainable, portable applications
Be intimately familiar with the software development life-cycle. Effective in working with QA, documentation and source control practices.
Be able to multi-task in a highly technical, fast paced environment
Be able to identify, prioritize and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines
Be able to communicate well and often
Have the flexibility to work at late hours if emergencies arise
