Borland renamed JBuilder Foundation to JBuilder Personal Edition after JBuilder 5. JBuilder 5/6/7 Personal Edition and JBuilder 4 Foundation are essentially the same product. Their user interfaces are almost identical. JBuilder 4 Foundation is in the companion CD-ROM and can also be downloaded from www.borland.com/jbuilder/foundation/download. JBuilder 5/6/7 can be downloaded from http://www.borland.com/jbuilder/personal/.
I recommend you to use JBuilder 4 for the following reasons:
1. The screen shots of the book are taken from JBuilder 4.
2. There is a bug in JBuilder 5's UI Designer for applets. If you have to choose between JBuilder 5, 6, and 7 choose JBuilder 7. JBuilder 7 is network-friendly. See the Notes JBuilder 7.
